Yesterday, I was told that my friend, fellow photographer Hughes Léglise-Bataille was killed in a car accident in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.
I met Hughes about 2 years ago when I began to photograph Paris’ demonstration and social event. He seemed to be a very nice guy. I was right. He was.
He was always smiling, no matter what. There was always a reason to smile or to tell a joke.
He watched my back several times during riots in Paris or in Geneva. He helped me, gave me advices, supported me.
He was this kind of photographer that you can’t hate.
He was a talented and concerned photojournalist. He took pictures that were strong. I was always amazed by them.
Say hello to our fellow photographer Lucas when you’ll get up there…
I’ll never forget these moments I spent with him. A coke, a coffee, a sandwich, a pint…
I already miss you Hughes, even if you were far away from Paris…
Farewell my friend.

Remembering Lucas Mebrouk Dolega.
32 years old photographer was deadly hit in Tunis by a teargas canister shot by tunisian Police during the big demonstrations that occured in the country, on Friday 14th, 2011.
I didn’t know him very well. I used to see him on social events in Paris. He used to support me, especially on my live music pictures.
He was and yet still is a great photojournalist. His strong will and natural quietness were impressive.
He died while doing his job, his passion.
He’ll be missed.

Much respect.

Rest in peace.
